Security software sometimes will take issue with our games. This includes security features built into the operating system (Windows Defender, Smartscreen, etc) as well as third-party applications (Norton, MacAfee, etc). In the most innocuous cases they will display a warning message about opening "unknown software" or similar; at the other extreme it may even delete the game executable file.

Why does this occur?

Well... in short many security companies and operating system developers monitor (or perhaps spy is a better term) what executables a user is launching and how often a particular executable is seen being across their customer base. For software with a large user base of tens of thousands or even millions of users it is easy to determine if something is safe or not. Games like ours, with a very small user base, are virtually unknowns on their radar.
