Hello everyone. This is our fourth developer diary for School Builder. Before opening your school you will need to fill three important administrator positions: Headmaster, Discipline Master and Deputy Discipline Master. That's who we will be talking about today.

Headmaster
The Headmaster is the highest ranking member of the school administration and is responsible for the overall management of the school. They are often also responsible for interactions with outside institutions such as the city, law enforcement and government educational authorities. Some Headmasters may still do teaching themselves, though in most larger schools they will not have the time.

Discipline Master
A Discipline Master is a position dedicated to student discipline, particularly in schools which allow corporal punishment. Students who are put on report are required to report to the Discipline Master. Almost all Discipline Masters also hold a regular Headteacher or teaching position at the school.

Deputy Discipline Master
The Deputy Discipline Master supports the Discipline Master, typically filling in when they are absent or otherwise unable to discipline a student.

Hiring
Before hiring for these three roles you will first need to set your Faculty & Staff Policy for men, women or co-ed. You will then be given a choice of three candidates for each position. For each candidate you will see their name, age, alma mater, subject background, if they have previous administrator experience, their expected salary and their reason for applying. These qualities will have an impact in your school - for instance Headmaster who is a former math teacher may be able to bring up math scores; while a Headmaster from a prestigious alma mater may be able to leverage contacts to hire higher quality teachers.

Changing Administrators
Later in the game, when your school has been operating awhile, should any administrator positions open up due to retirement, resignation, etc you will also be able to promote teachers to administrator positions in addition to hiring from the outside.

That's for all today as we've also been mostly working on boring, but necessary under the hood stuff this past week, including making in game windows moveable. Next time we'll talk about what you'll need to do building wise to open your school for the inaugural year.
